  1. Your e-commerce website must be running on HTTPS – this ensures the integrity and security of your customers’ information and provides Google with confidence that your site can be trusted.
  2. Page load speed (and other metrics such as first contenful paint) are super important for ecommerce SEO. It’s proven that bounce rates (visitor dissatisfaction) increases almost proportionally with page load time.
  3. Mobile matters most. For most of our eCommerce customers, mobile traffic accounts for at least 70% of traffic and a minimum of 50%  of eCommerce revenue. So when you’re looking at SEO, focus your efforts on mobile experience.
  4. Have a back link strategy early. Outreach to quality blogs and sites early on in your SEO strategy will pay dividends for rankings and traffic down the line.
  5. Spend the time to write meta descriptions that will catch browsers’ attention and therefore increase click through rates on organic search. 
  6. It’s important to write ALT tags for all of your images on your eCommerce site. Not only does this improve SEO by allowing bots to scan the alt text, but it also helps those visitors with less than perfect eyesight work out what your website is all about.
  7. Make sure you use eCommerce breadcrumbs to improve the overall site linking structure and site architecture.

  14. Make sure your title tag is between 60-70 characters in length and always include the keyword to grab user attention.
